In the Footsteps of the Piedmontese Saints

Piedmont holds a rich ecclesiastical tradition, making it an ideal destination for pilgrimages, as evidenced by its imposing basilicas, abbeys, sanctuaries, Sacri Monti, and the Holy Shroud.

Many churches in Turin are also true artistic treasures, such as the Royal Church of San Lorenzo with Guarini’s magnificent dome, and the Gran Madre di Dio in neoclassical style.

Piedmont is also the homeland of some of Italy’s most beloved saints, including St. Giovanni Bosco and St. Giuseppe Cottolengo, renowned educators and benefactors. This intertwining of spirituality, memory, art, culture, and history can be explored with the guidance of our expert guides and companions.

On request, you can also experience a remarkable stretch of the Via Francigena, the famous pilgrimage route to Rome, encountering:

  • Sacra di San Michele, a medieval abbey complex, offering spiritual and physical rest to pilgrims since 1000 AD, now a symbol of Piedmont;

  • Abbey of Novalesa, founded in 726 AD for caring for the sick and assisting pilgrims;

  • Abbey of Sant’Antonio di Ranverso, featuring valuable 15th-century frescoes;

  • The Paleochristian Complex of the Church of San Lorenzo and the Baptistery of St. John the Baptist.
